Frequently ‘Axed’ Questions

  • Is it dangerous?
    • Of course it’s dangerous. It’s an axe! Unlike bowling, (where you are handed a slippery pair of shoes and throw a slick, 16-pound ball with 3 fingers at a target 60 feet away) our friendly coaches stay with you during the entire session teaching proper throwing technique and maintaining a safe environment.
  • How does it work?
    • After checking in and signing the waiver, an axe coach will give a safety briefing. Then, the coach will spend time teaching each person the proper throwing technique. After everyone is sticking axes, you will begin competing with each other in head-to-head, team, or a round robin tournament.
  • How long does it take?
    • Depends on how long you want to throw! We offer 1 hour sessions (back-to-back 1 hour sessions can be booked for a longer throwing AXE-perience). We recommend you arrive 15 minutes early to check in and sign waivers.  Private events can be as long as needed.
  • How much does it cost?
    • $22 per person per hour. Group bookings are available for groups of 8-12 people: 1 hour – $20 per person. On Saturdays, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm: 1 hour – $17/Player. For larger groups or private events please CONTACT US.
  • Do you take walk-ins?
    • Yes, but we recommend that you make a reservation in advance to ensure that you secure a target. BOOK NOW.
  • How many people do we need in our group?
    • There can be up to 5 people per target or 12 people per lane (2 targets).
  • Can I bring food or drink?
    • Unfortunately, we do not allow outside food or drinks to be brought in. But, we are located within High Voltage and they serve beer, soft drinks, and meat and cheese boards. Food trucks will be on the premises Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. High Voltage also has an arrangement with Main Street Pizza, in which Main Street Pizza can be delivered to High Voltage and the Axe House. We do allow cakes and cookies to be brought in for private parties or special events.
  • What should I wear?
    • We do not allow any open-toed shoes or high heels. We recommend wearing comfortable, closed-toed shoes and clothing that allows for maximum arm movement. Of course, flannel is always a great choice!
  • Are there age restrictions?
    • We have seen people from the age of 10 to the age of 80 stick an axe. However, it depends on the physical ability of the individual to be able to handle an axe.  All minors (18 or younger) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, but the parent or legal guardian is not required to throw.
  • Can I bring my own axe?
    • We prefer that you use one of our axes. If you do decide to bring your own axe, we will need to inspect it to make sure it meets our safety standards. We do not allow double headed axes, long axes, axes over 3 pounds, or axes that are extremely sharp.
  • Do you offer gift certificates?
    • Yes. Gift vouchers can be purchased in person at the axe house, on the booking page, or CLICK HERE.
  • Do you offer league play?
    • We do have league play. Please visit our LEAGUES page for more information.
  • Do you offer any discounts?
    • We offer a 10% hero discount to all veterans, active military, police, firefighters, EMTs, first responders, and nurses. Just show your ID at check in. It’s a small way to say thank you for your service to our community and country!
  • Do I need to sign a waiver every time?
    • No. Once you have signed the waiver, it is good for 1 year. We will keep your waiver on record for future visits.

Please CONTACT US if you have any other questions to AXE and one of our friendly staff will help in any way possible.

The Axe House will be closed July 21st-22nd for Fun Fest.
We will return to our normal business hours next week.
We look forward to throwing with you soon at King’s Sport Axe House!
